Inclusive activities kicks off the season of giving!
The Reindeer-Walk-A-Wheelathon kicked off the Christmas mood a month ago with a charity walkathon!
More than a thousand people flocked to the Marina Bay Event Square on 26 November 2016 to participate in the Reindeer Walk-a-Wheelaton 2016.
Held consecutively for the third year running, the Reindeer Walk-a-Wheelaton aims to raise funds for the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) para-athlete development.
This year’s edition kicked off with a sunrise yoga at 7am with The Yoga Mandala. About 50 participants soaked in the scenic view and started off the day with a Zen mood as they did stretches along the event square.
Next on the agenda was the Reindeer Walk-a-Wheelaton which started at 9am.Leading the pack were a group who gamely smiled and joked sportingly that they would begin first and also cross the finish line first.
Others took their time with a leisure morning walk as they posed for pictures with their reindeer headband along the scenic bay.
10am sparked the next session of Inclusive Zumba conducted by Active Fitness. Many joined in the session which began with a warm up Zumba session with active beats. There were faces of exhilaration as people worked up a sweat while enjoying themselves immensely.
It was indeed heartening to witness everyone coming together as one as they participated in the various sessions and tried out the carnival games such as Boccia,Goalball and Giant Tennis. Participants found out more about the para-sports and tried their hand at it. One thing’s for sure: it definitely is not as simple as it may look!
We at Dis.is.Able enjoyed ourselves at the Reindeer Walk-a-Wheelaton 2016 and are eagerly keeping our eyes out for the next. We hope to see you there at the next Reindeer Walk-a-Wheelaton!
